Tehran, Nov 27, IRNA – Three medals - gold, silver and a bronze, two fifth titles, and the fifth rank in the 2012 World Senior Karate Championships in Paris account for major reports of Iranian sports this week. **National Iranian Karat Team reserved the fifth place in the ranking list of the 2012 World Senior Karate Championships in Paris. Some 1,435 karatekas from 113 countries were present in the competitions. Meanwhile, Iran's six-man National Boxing Team left for Yerevan to attend The 2012 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships, that will be held in Yerevan, Armenia, between 25 November and 8 December 2012. **Iran will host the First Women's Sitting Volleyball Championship in 2014. The venue is not yet known. **Iran, Japan and Thailand have become candidates to win the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Futsal Team of the Year award. The AFC Player of the Year award will be presented at a ceremony on November 29, at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. ** Iranian athletes won four medals of the Asian Biathlon Championship in Philippines. Two of the medals were gained by Iranian women biathletes in their first overseas competition. **The 8th International Table Tennis Competitions will be held in Qazvin on November 29. Seven teams from Russia, Lebanon, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Iraq, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan have voiced readiness to attend it. **Iran's Junior Girls Team managed to defeat Indian five to two in the Asian Junior Championship Competitions. The Iranian team will face Uzbekistan on Wednesday. ** The envoys of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) will visit Tehran to look into the amended charter of the Iran National Olympic Committee (INOC) and the sports federations of Iran. An informed source said the envoys will visit Iran before end of 2012. They would confirm the amended charters if deemed so. ** The national Iranian hockey team has registered its fourth straight victory in the fourth edition of the Men’s Indoor Asia Cup hockey tournament in Thailand, overwhelming Malaysia. Iranians trounced their Malaysian rivals 14-1 in a match played in the host city of Saraburi, located 108 kilometers (67 miles) north of the Thai capital of Bangkok, on Friday. **Iran's National Adults Taekwondo Team was defeated by South Korea to stand vice-champion of the 16th 2012 WTF World Cup Taekwondo in Santa Cruz, Aruba. Iran had last year won the championship title. 161 taekwondo athletes in 13 teams were present there. **International Traditional Karate Federation announced during the 2012 world competitions in France that as of 2014 women wearing Hijab can attend the international competitions. So, female athletes, wearing Islamic dress code, including those from Iran will attend international competitions. The next such competitions will be held in Germany. **Vice-President of Women Football Federation left here for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on November 25 to raise a proposal at the meeting of Asian Football Confederation Committees to hold women club Futsal and Football competitions. **The Asian Football Confederation has nominated Ali Karimi along with two other Asian players for the 2012 AFC Player of the Year award. AFC announced the final three nominees as Lee Keun Ho from South Korea, Ali Karimi from Iran, and Zheng Zhi from China. Iranian defender Mohsen Bengar was also among the top five players but failed to make up for the final shortlist along with Australian defender Lucas Neill. Iranian futsal player Mohammad Keshavarz, who won the 2011 AFC Futsal Player of the Year award, is a nominee of the 2012 award along with Rafael Henmi and Suphawut Thueanklang. In the meantime, teams from Denmark, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Portugal and Iraq have announced readiness to attend the World Cup Fencing Competitions, due to be held in Tehran from December 15-16.
