UN Special Rapporteur seeking to fabricate evidence against Iran: Iranian official

TEHRAN,Nov.28(MNA) – Mohammad Javad Larijani, the secretary general of the High Council for Human Rights, has said that Ahmed Shaheed, the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Iran, is seeking to produce fabricated documents against the Islamic Republic. “This person has said that he has 2000 reports about Iran and that he will discuss these reports during a three-day trip to Iran. He has also said that he has interviewed 200 people but cannot mention their names,” Larijani stated during a press conference in Tehran on Tuesday. Shaheed “is seeking to produce fabricated documents against Iran, and is spending money so that Iranian opposition members will travel to London and report to him. His measure runs counter to the principles of reporting at the United Nations and is called fabricating. This person lacks moral, technical, and legal credibility and is not aware of the basics of reporting,” he said. Larijani added, “This person has fallen into the trap of terrorist groups, and is seeking to produce fabricated documents instead of reporting.” He also stated that Iran is not opposed to the appointment of special rapporteurs and that its judicial apparatus is transparent, but some points need to be clarified first.
