Iranian envoy warns about repercussions of adventurism against Iran

TEHRAN, Dec. 2 (MNA) – The Iranian ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) warned the West about repercussions of any acts of adventurism against Iran.
“Unfortunately, the United States and others are still issuing threats, but Iran is a great country and will not be brought to its knees by these threats,” Ambassador Ali Asghar Soltanieh told Al-Alam News Network on Saturday in reference to the two-day meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors, which closed on Friday.
Pointing to the process of talks between Iran and the six major powers (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) over the country’s nuclear program, he said that unfortunately, certain parties are trying to pressure countries to make unwise decisions against the Islamic Republic.
“We are waiting for the negotiating table and have prepared a framework for cooperation, and we urge them to stop issuing threats because threats will draw negative responses,” he said.
He added, “The United States has again started issuing threats. The United States should take the result of these threats into consideration because a good opportunity has arisen, which will not occur again.”
He went on to say that Iran answered 50 questions about its nuclear program during the meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors to clear up ambiguities, adding that the report of the Board of Governors, which was read on Friday, once again confirmed that there is no diversion in Iran’s nuclear program.
In addition, Soltanieh said that Iran is trying to reach an agreement with the UN nuclear agency and as in the past, it is ready to allow IAEA inspectors to visit its nuclear facilities.
Iran and the UN nuclear watchdog have agreed to hold a new round of talks in Tehran on December 13. The latest round of talks between Iran and the IAEA was held in Vienna on August 24.
