Iran's SNSC Secretary: Democracy, Only Solution To Syria Crisis

Tehran, Dec 3, IRNA – Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili said that the only solution to Syrian crisis is establishment of democracy in that country. Speaking in a meeting with the Deputy Coordinator of the Syrian National Groups, Heisam Mana, Jalili said that the dignity and strength of the Syrian nation lies in the fact that the people of the Arab country should determine their own fate themselves. 'Safeguarding the exigency and people's interests should be prioritized in ceasefire plans and halting the violence in Syria,' he added. Jalili, also representative of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei at SNSC, condemned the terrorist attacks and bombings carried out by foreign and al-Qaeda elements in Syria. 'Destruction of Syria's infrastructures is a kind of harming the future of that country and will gladden the Zionist regime,' he added. Jalili noted that Syria need to evident and public talks in order to help replace the logic of power with the power of logic and put it to the judgment of the public opinion. He underlined the preparedness of the Islamic Republic of Iran for sending humanitarian aid to the Syrian people and make effort to holding free elections in that country. The Syrian opposition figure, for his part, said, 'The opposition groups merely consider a Syrian solution and without interference of foreign parties as the proper solution.' Mana said that the military solution is doomed to failure in Syria, adding that the inclusion of the nation's interests, halting the violence by both sides and resumption of talks are on the agenda of the Syrian National Groups Coordinating Committee./end
