Iran beaten by Romania in World Youth Water Polo Championships

TEHRAN,Dec.3(MNA)-- Iran lost to Romania in the 2012 FINA World Youth Water Polo Championships on Sunday. In the match held at the Challenge Stadium in Perth, Australia, the Iranian team was defeated 11-4 by Romania in Group C. Iran will face Greece on Monday. In the first day of the competition, Iran defeated Trinidad and Tobago 9-7. Over 450 athletes from 24 different nations contest the championships with 19 men’s teams and 15 women’s in action. A total of 20 teams, divided into four groups of five teams, will be playing together in the tournament, which will be held at the Challenge Stadium in Perth. First team from each group will qualify for quarterfinals, and 2nd and 3rd teams will advance for round of 16. A total of 110 games will be played throughout the nine days with the gold medal matches to be played on Sunday December 9.
