Seven cyber police forces arrested over Iranian blogger’s death

TEHRAN,Dec.4(MNA) – Seven cyber police forces have been arrested over the death of Sattar Beheshti, an Iranian blogger who recently died in custody, National Prosecutor General Gholam Hossein Mohseni-Ejeii announced on Monday. “Seven FATA (cyber) police forces have been arrested and interrogated. A number of them are under arrest, and a number of them have been released,” Mohseni-Ejeii, who is also the Judiciary spokesman, told his regular press briefing in Tehran. Beheshti had been beaten, but not to the extent that could have led to his death, he stated, adding that according to the investigations, the blogger had not been poisoned. It was announced on Saturday that Tehran cyber police chief, Colonel Mohammad Hassan Shokrian, had been fired on the orders of National Police Chief Esmaeil Ahmadi-Moqaddam over Beheshti’s death. Shokrian was removed from his post due to negligence and his failure to properly supervise the performance of his personnel.
