PM praises role of dialogues at ASEM 7
Beijing (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung pointed out the role of dialogues among Asia-Europe cultures and civilisations in narrowing differences and building trust and mutual understanding.
Delivering a speech at the 7 th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM 7) held in
Beijing, PM Dung also stressed the importance of the implementation of the
ASEM declaration on the matter passed by ASEM 5 delegates.
He highlighted Vietnam 's development strategy and internal policy for
an advanced Vietnamese culture that preserves national identity and an
external policy aiming at multilateral and diversified cooperation and
active integration in the region and the world at large.
PM Dung also suggested more focus be placed on culture and civilisation
dialogues among Asian and European countries for future cooperation.
At the meeting, three Vietnam 's initiatives relating to combining
cultural activities to promote ASEM images, exchanging experiences in coping
with climate change and diseases, and food security received big support
from attending countries.
The two-day ASEM 7 closed on Oct. 25, passing four important documents,
namely Declaration of the President, Declaration on International Financial
Situation, Beijing Declaration on Sustainable Development and the revised
Asia-Europe Cooperation Framework.
ASEM 8 will be held in Belgium.-Enditem
