‘No need for endorsement of presidential candidates by 100 politicos’

TEHRAN,Dec.11(MNA) – A member of the Majlis Judicial Committee has said that an amendment to the election law which calls for the qualifications of presidential candidates to be approved by 100 religious or political figures should be annulled. Seyyed Younes Mousavi told the Youth Journalist Club that when the Guardian Council approves the qualifications of a candidate, there is no need that their qualifications be approved by 100 political and religious figures. He added that the decision would only create problems for officials and MPs. The Majlis is currently revising the presidential electoral law. The revision has prompted a reaction from the government and certain political activists.
