Iranian consulate in Herat resumes activities

TEHRAN,Dec.18(MNA) – The Iranian consulate in the Afghan city of Herat resumed its activities on Monday at the request of the people and the Afghan Foreign Ministry. The consulate had been closed after a number of Afghan protesters attacked the Iranian consulate with sticks and stones on December 9 to protest the alleged killing of 13 Afghan migrant workers three months ago by Iranian security forces. Rahim Mohammadi-Yekta, the Iranian consul in Afghanistan, said that Iran has sent a protest note to the Afghan government calling for compensation for the damage.
