“Alzheimer’s” wins award at Asia-Pacific Film Festival

TEHRAN,Dec.20(MNA) -- The Iranian drama “Alzheimer’s” by director/writer Ahmadreza Motamedi won the award for best screenplay at the 55th Asia-Pacific Film Festival in Macau. The award presentation ceremony was held at the Venetian Macao-Resort Hotel on 15 December, Iran’s Farabi Cinematic Foundation announced on Wednesday. “Alzheimer’s” tells the story of a woman (Asieh) who has lost her husband, named Amir-Qasem, in an accident. She advertizes in the newspaper every year hoping to find him, but her relatives, giving him up as lost, hold a funeral ceremony for him. All of a sudden, a man who resembles her husband claims that he has come back after years but nobody is sure if he really is Amir-Qasem or not. The film received many accolades at international events. The film received the jury special prize at the Baghdad International Film Festival in October. The 57th Taormina Film Festival has previously honored the film with a special jury prize in June 2011. “Life without Principle”, produced and directed Johnnie To from Hong Kong, was crowned best movie at the Asia-Pacific Film Festival.
