Afghan Minister Tours Payam-e Noor University

Tehran, Dec 26, IRNA – Afghan Minister of Higher Education Obaidullah Obaid on Tuesday visited various sections of Tehran Payam-e Noor University and held talks with chancellor of the university, Hassan Ziyari. Ziyari said that over 1,100,000 students are currently studying in Payam-e Noor University, comprising 30 percent of the Iranian student community and 50 percent of the students studying in state-run universities. He said that the university has set up faculties in 16 countries including Afghanistan. Obaid, for his part, said that the Afghan government expects foreign countries to set up higher education centers in Afghanistan to enhance level of academic studies in the country. More than 1,000 students are studying in Afghanistan Payam-e Noor University, 270 of whom are continuing their studies at MA level, he noted./end
