Khonya to try Greek melodies in Tehran concerts

TEHRAN,Dec.26(MNA) -- The Iranian ensemble Khonya is planning to perform some Greek melodies during two concerts in Tehran in January. The melodies will be performed in the first part of the concerts, which will be held at Rudaki Hall on January 14 and 15, singer Pari Maleki told on Tuesday. The band members Jala Amirpur and Bardia Sadr-Nuri helped Maleki compose the melodies. All the money, which will be raised by the first concert, will be presented to the Mehr-Taha Charity Institute, she stated. The ensemble features Amirpur on tar, Sadr-Nuri on piano, Ava Ayyubi on bass-tar and oud, Hooman Rumi on kamancheh, Mohammadreza Saki on percussion, Bamdad Maleki on tonbak, and Hossein Qasemzadeh on ney. Dulcimer virtuoso Marzieh Rahimzadeh is the only female member of Maleki’s band. Only females are allowed to attend the concerts.
