Iranian Navy’s new missile system to become operational soon

TEHRAN,Dec.27(MNA) – The Iranian Navy’s new missile system will become operational in the near future, the commander of the Navy announced . Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said that the new missile system can be installed on all vessels of the Navy. Experts at the Iranian Navy in cooperation with Iran’s Defense Industries Organization have designed and manufactured the missile system, which can help increase the precision and range of the missiles that are fired by naval vessels. Sayyari also said all naval units of the country have been equipped to be able to carry out missions in the open seas. Sayyari announced on Tuesday that Iran would hold a 6-day naval exercise in an area covering about one million square kilometers from the Strait of Hormuz to the northern part of the Indian Ocean. The war games, entitled Velayat-90, will begin on December 28, he said. On the objectives of the exercise, he said that the maneuvers would be held to test the country’s new defense and missile systems, combat vessels, and submarines, and provide naval forces with the opportunity to perform combat and reconnaissance missions, repel mock attacks, and practice countering electronic warfare measures.
