TEHRAN,Dec.30(MNA)– Iran and Afghanistan discussed a plan to establish a joint university during a meeting last week.
The meeting was held between Iranian Minister of Science, Research, and Technology Kamran Daneshju, and Afghan Ministry of Higher Education Obaidullah Obaid in Tehran.
Daneshju referred to the historical and cultural affinities between the countries and said, “We are eager to expand academic relations between the two countries.”
“We are ready to share our scientific experiences with Afghan academics,” he added.
He also said that Iran is ready to grant scholarships to Afghan students and to establish study centers for Persian language and Islamic issues in Afghan universities.
Obaid expressed his appreciation to the Iranian people for the help extended to the Afghan refugees.
“We believe that the human resources in Afghanistan should be trained. Due to the cultural affinities between the two countries, Afghan students do prefer Iranian universities,” he added.
