‘Iranian Navy guarantees Persian Gulf security’

TEHRAN,Jan.1(MNA) - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said that the presence of the Iranian Navy in the Persian Gulf guarantees regional security. Mehmanparast, who is visiting Turkey, made the remarks in Istanbul during an interview with a number of Turkish media outlets. He also stated that Iran is opposed to the “militarization” of the Persian Gulf region. The official added the presence of foreign forces may undermine the security in the region.
