Rubber Largest Export Earner For South Sumatra

Palembang, South Sumatra, Jan 4 (ANTARA) - Natural rubber is still the largest export earner outside oil and gas for South Sumatra, the regional office of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said. South Sumatra`s exports of commodities other than oil and gas were valued at US$3.17 billion in the first 10 months of 2012 with rubber contributing US$2.54 billion , head of the regional BPS office Baehdi Ruswana said . Coal is the second largest export earning with a contribution of US$100.31 million , followe dby timber US$24.88 million, Baehdi said here on Friday. Other major export commodities include coffee, tea and crude palm oil, he said. Export destinations of South Sumatra`s commodities include Singapore, Malaysia, France, Germany, Japan, China , India and the United States.
