Selection of Rumi poetry published in Spain

TEHRAN,Jan.6(MNA) -- A selection of Rumi’s quatrains has recently been published in a book in Spanish and Persian in Madrid. Entitled “Rubaiyat, Yalal ud-Din Rumi”, the book was rendered into Spanish by Madrid-based Iranian translator and journalist Ahmad Taheri and Spanish poet and translator Clara Janés. The poems were selected by Taheri and Random House Mondadori published the book. Each page features a Persian quatrain calligraphed by Mehdi Garmrudi with its translation at the foot of the page. The book comprises 144 quatrains, which have been categorized in three chapters: Training, Love, and Drunkenness, Taheri told the Persian service of MNA on Saturday. Some books about Rumi’s life story and his work have been published in Spain over the past few years, which piqued interest in his poetry among Spanish scholars and literati, he added. Taheri and Janés previously translated books by a number of Iranian classic poets, such as Ferdowsi, Khayyam, and Hafez and contemporary Iranian poets Nima Yushij, Ahmad Shamlu, and Sohrab Sepehri.
