Thai soldiers barred from protesting at media office

BANGKOK, January 12 (TNA) - Thai Army Commander-in-Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha has ordered soldiers not to march and hold protest in front of ASTV media office in Bangkok, after the vocal media has kept criticizing his performance. Royal Thai Army Spokesman Colonel Sansern Kaewkamnerd told TNA in a telephone interview on Saturday that the army chief has, especially, given the order to a group of soldiers who travelled to the ASTV office to demand that it ceased attacking General Prayuth in order to protect his dignity. Colonel Sansern said that the army chief has instructed the soldiers not to act emotionally, but returning to their barracks immediately. According to the spokesman, the army chief expressed his hope that the situation would not occur again in the future, recommending that’ soldiers should, instead, perform their duties as ordered by their superiors for public and national interests.
