World Must Be Free Of Nuclear Weapons: Pakistani Lawmaker

Islamabad, Jan 19, IRNA – A Pakistani parliamentarian on Friday said the fatwa (religious decree) issued by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on the prohibition of nuclear weapons should be followed in letter and spirit. Talking to IRNA Senator Col (R) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), said that world must be free of nuclear weapons after the religious decree. He said that Supreme Leader is not against the peaceful use of nuclear energy but against the use of weapons of mass destruction. The politician said that developing peaceful nuclear technology is the right of all countries in the world and the peaceful use of nuclear energy must be encouraged. “One has to understand that nuclear weapon and nuclear power are two different things,” the MQM leader added. The parliamentarian expressing his views said that it is unfortunate that the world powers are making tank guided and even more sophisticated weapons of mass destruction. He said that west has to realize that killing one person is like killing all humanity. Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi said that illegitimate state of Israel poses a great threat to the world peace. He said that Zionist regime was created on the land of Palestinians and the owners of the land are now forced to live in camps. He said that today Zionist approach is the real problem. “International Zionist movement does not believe in peace,” said the lawmaker. The politician said that countries of Middle East must come out of American influence on their policies. “Countries of Middle East are indirectly supporting Zionist regime by forwarding American agenda,” he pointed out. The legislator went on to say that war like activities of Zionist regime must come to an end. Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi said that US must stop following the policy of double standards against Muslim world. “On one hand they claim to be the champions of democracy and human rights but on the other hand they are supporting monarchies in Middle East,” he said. The parliamentarian said that Iran is developing a peaceful nuclear program and entire Muslim world should support Iran in this regards./end
