Cairo Welcomes Hosting Next Round Of Iran-5+1 Talks : FM

Tehran, Jan 23, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said Wednesday that Egypt has welcomed hosting the next round of talks between Iran and the sextet. Talking to reporters after this morning cabinet session, Salehi referred to his recent visit to Egypt and said Iranˈs Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) recommended Cairo to host the meeting which was welcomed by the Egyptian side. Egyptian officials are consulting the issue with members of the Group 5+1- the US, UK, France, China and Russia plus Germany-, he said, adding that the date and venue of the negotiations have not been fixed yet. Several countries, including Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Switzerland and Sweden have expressed their readiness to host the talks, noted Salehi, adding that the talks will be held in Cairo if the sextet agrees with the proposal. Pointing to Turkeyˈs hosting of previous rounds of Iran-5+1 talks, Salehi said Tehran is well satisfied with the previous meetings held in that country./end
