We need vibrant presidential election:Iranian EC chairman

TEHRAN,Jan.28(MNA) – Expediency Council Chairman Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Sunday that today the country needs an enthusiastic presidential election which would compel the enemies to acknowledge that it has been held according to modern, international standards. The presidential election will be held on June 14. “I believe that if the election is being held enthusiastically with the participation of masses of people, it will push the enemies 10 steps back.” He added that elections in Iran have always been democratic and “we should make efforts not to be accused of being dictatorial and undemocratic.” Rafsanjani also emphasized that vibrant election doesn’t mean that only a single party contest the election, rather all parties must be represented in the race and people given the chance to vote for their preferred candidate.
