Iranian ex-labor minister appointed vice president for social affairs

TEHRAN,Feb.14(MNA) – In a decree issued on Wednesday, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appointed former labor and social affairs minister Abdolreza Sheikholeslami as his deputy for social affairs. On February 3, parliament overwhelmingly voted to unseat Sheikholeslami after he refused to sack Saeed Mortazavi as the director of the Social Security Organization. Mortazavi, a former Tehran prosecutor, is held partly responsible for the Kahrizak incident in which three inmates lost their lives.
