Thai south on alert against dengue fever

SONGKHLA, February 16 (TNA) - Thailand's southern Songkhla Province has been on high alert against the spreading of dengue fever. According to Songkhla's public health chief Dr. Sirichai Leewannapasai, his office has coordinated with local administrative offices in urgently implementing measures against the spreading of the dengue fever, as the number of patients has been on the rise. The coordinated measures include spraying of smog to eradicate common house mosquitoes, the carrier of dengue fever, using abate sand to destroy the mosquitoes' breeding grounds and campaigning for residents to help stop the spread of the virus. Official figures show during the first two months of this year, there have been 842 dengue fever cases in Songkhla, one of them have died. (TNA)
