MALAYSIAN F&B PRODUCERS CLOSE RM115.3 MILLION IN SALES AT PARIS SHOW

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysian companies successfully concluded deals for food and beverage products worth RM115.3 million (US$32.8 million) at the recent Salon International de l'Agroalimentaire 2008 (SIAL 2008) exhibition in Paris, France.

The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade), in a
statement here said the exhibition held from October 19-23 is a biennial
event.It is also one of the world's largest food and beverage (F&B) exhibitions.

The agency said numerous enquiries were received from buyers hailing from
Africa, the Middle East, South America, North America, Europe and Asia seeking
products for commercial purposes.

It also said trade visitors were impressed to see the wide range of
products
displayed by the Malaysian exhibitors at the Malaysian Pavilion in the
fair.

Among the products were biscuits, snacks, chips, chocolates, candies,
premium nuts aas well as exotic and generic sauces.

Matrade said the Malaysian exhibitors indicated that they received quality
buyers who confirmed their purchases on the spot."There were also potential
buyers who indicated a serious interest to source and requested for detailed
information," Matrade added.

The five-day fair attracted more than 5,300 exhibitors from over
100 countries including Malaysia. (US$1=RM3.5)
