Egyptian economic delegation to attend Tehran meeting

TEHRAN,Feb.19(MNA) – A large Egyptian economic delegation will travel to Iran to attend a two-day joint economic meeting. The delegation will be comprised of representatives of private sector enterprises, IRNA quoted the director of Egypt’s interests section in Iran, Khalid al-Said Ibrahim Amari, as saying on Monday. The two-day event opens in Tehran today. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that annual trade between Iran and Egypt stands at a modest $331 million, which does not reflect the significance of both countries and their potential for economic cooperation. Earlier in February, Ahmadinejad attended the 12th summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Cairo. According to Ahmadinejad, bilateral trade will hit $20-30 billion in ten years. In Cairo, the Iranian president said the two countries should increase their cooperation in all spheres, especially trade, tourism, education, and technology.
