Iran to introduce radar systems with ranges of over 1000 km

TEHRAN,Feb.20(MNA) – Iran plans to introduce new radar systems with ranges of between 1000 and 3000 kilometers, Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi announced on Tuesday.
Vahidi made the remarks during his speech at the second conference on radar systems which opened on the same day in Tehran.
“We have produced radars with ranges of between 500 and 700 kilometers in the country,” he said, adding, “In the area of radars with ranges of over 1000 kilometers up to 3000 kilometers, some works have been done, which will be completed in the future.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said, “In recent years, good works have been done and great strides have been made in such a way that today the Islamic Republic of Iran has something to say in the area of phased array radars, which are the world’s most advanced and precise radars.”
“We have achieved our goals in the field of S-band phased array radars, and we are taking our final steps with regard to X-band (radars),” he said.
“Today, parts of the radars that use the phased array model to track satellites have been made, and the radars will become operational in the future,” he added.
On the sidelines of the conference, the defense minister told reporters that the country’s new military achievements, including a new submarine, a new flying boat, and the Jamaran 2 destroyer, would be unveiled in coming months.
