M`SIAN, INDONESIAN POLICE BEGIN JOINT EXERCISE

KUCHING (Malaysia), Oct 30 (Bernama) -- More than 600 Indonesian and
Malaysian police personnel Thursday began a four-day joint exercise aimed at
forging greater cooperation between the two forces, particularly in checking
border crimes.

The 28th "Aman Malindo" exercise involves 140 Indonesian police personnel
and 500 Malaysian police personnel.

Indonesian deputy director of police operations Robani Prianoto and
Malaysian deputy director I of Internal Security and Public Order Datuk Abdul
Rahman Hussin attended the launch of the exercise at the Sarawak police
headquarters, in this capital of East Malaysia state of Sarawak.

Both of them agreed that greater cooperation was needed to stem crime along
the common border of both countries.
