EFA strengthens Vientiane Library and Children’s Cultural Centre
(KPL) A Japan-based Empowerment for All (EFA) and the Ministry of Information and Culture have signed a memorandum of understanding on capacity building of the Vientiane Library and the Children’s Cultural Centres in Luang Prabang, Xiengkuang, Khammouan and Sekong.
The document was signed here on Wednesday by Representative of EFA Ms Izumi Nakamura and Head of the Office of Ministry of Information and Culture Mr. Kanthong Manotham. Representatives from the Children’s Cultural Centre, the Vientiane Information and Culture Service and the Lao-Japan Children Development Organization witnessed the signing.
Launched in May this year, the project costs over 1.5 billion kip (US$ 183,084). It will end in December 2010.
The activities of the project include the provision of books and office appliances to the library, helping the children access cultural and educational activities, health education, children’s rights and training the officials of the library and centres.
