KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- The Government will announce on Nov 4 pre-emptive measures to tackle problems that will arise from the global financial crisis, Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Friday.
He said his deputy Najib Razak will unveil the measures when winding up the
debate on Budget 2009 in the Dewan Rakyat (Lower House of Parliament).
"With the announcement of the measures, the people will have the confidence
to face together the challenges surfacing from the uncertainties in the world
economy," he told reporters after chairing the Umno supreme council
meeting.
Abdullah, who is also Umno president, said the Government was doing its
utmost to ease the impact of the global financial meltdown on the nation's
economy.
"This is to ensure we can weather the impact and our economy is not
seriously affected to the extent of creating problems (to the government and the
people)," he added.
