FM spokesman: Iraq terrorist operations aim to severe tribal clashes

Tehran, March 31, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast condemned the recent terrorist operations in Iraq and said targeting mosques and the Shiite religious sites severs tribal clashes and turns political disputes into religious conflicts. The spokesman made the remark in reaction to the Friday explosions in Iraq which targeted a number of mosques and Shiite religious places and killed a group of worshipers there. He condemned the terrorist operations and expressed sympathy with the survivors of the terrorist acts. The terrorist operations which took place at a time when the Iraqi security forces had made important achievements in destroying terrorist circles, was aimed at hurting tribal sentiments and turning political disputes into a religious war, he added. Mehmanparast further expressed confidence that the Iraqi government and nation would manage to counter the evil phenomenon occurring within the country’s borders through their vigilance and wise acts. The FM spokesman also stressed Iran’s support for the Iraqi government’s measures to fight terrorism and said that convergence and cooperation of different political groups will be of significant outcome in fighting terrorist groups.
