21st anniversary of establishment of Azerbaijan-China diplomatic ties marked in University of Languages

Baku, April 3 (AzerTAc). A ceremony to mark the 21st anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between Azerbaijan and China has been held in Azerbaijan University of Languages. Director of Center of Chinese Language and Culture at the University, Rafiq Abbasov spoke at the event, highlighting Azerbaijan-China relationship in political, economic and humanitarian spheres, saying it has deep historical roots. Abbasov noted China was one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan`s independence. The director also stressed the role of national leader Heydar Aliyev in expansion of bilateral relations, recalling his visit to Beijing. Pro-rector of the University Jale Qaribova said the University of Languages cooperates with several higher education institutions of China. Official of the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan Qu Min said relations between Azerbaijan and China had strengthened. According to him, the number of Chinese students studying in Azerbaijani universities increases year after year. Other speakers at the event, including students of the University highlighted the role of national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev in development of Azerbaijan-China cooperation.
