Iranian art adorns intl. galleries

TEHRAN,April 16(MNA) -- Works of a number of Iranian artists in various media are currently on display at several international galleries. The Wiesbaden Museum opened an exhibition of photos by the Iranian multimedia artist Abbas Kiarostami on April 11. Entitled “Silence and Moving Images”, the exhibit runs until June 16. Amistad Gallery in Philadelphia has showcased “What I Don’t Have”, a series of photographs by Mohammadreza Mirzaii, an MFA candidate at the University of Pennsylvania. He took the photos during his residency in Lugo, Italy in December 2012. The exhibition will continue until September 15. “The Wrong Women”, a series of 12 paintings by Afshin Pirhashemi is currently on show in an exhibition at Ayyam Gallery in Dubai. The collection focuses the role of women in contemporary Iranian society, and their relationships with the world around them. The exhibition ends on April 25.
