Official Praises Iranˈs Red Crescent Professional Abilities

Tehran, April 21, IRNA – Chairman of Standing Commission of the Red Crescent and Red Cross Societies Greg Vickery praised Iranˈs Red Crescent (IRC) professional abilities in the world level. Vickery, who is in Tehran to attend the 8th Conference of the society, made the remarks in a meeting with Head of Iranˈs Red Crescent Abolhassan Faqih here on Saturday afternoon. He asked Iranian officials to pave the ground so that these professional abilities can be used to assist other countries. Expressing sympathy with victimsˈ families and survivors of quake-stricken areas, Vickery evaluated IRCˈs work in relation with the recent earthquakes in Iran ˈvery good, effective and upon world standardsˈ. He also invited head of Iranˈs Red Crescent to attend the 9th Conference of the societies in Australia. Faqih, for his part, said that IRC has an active role in international arena, too. Right now, IRC has 29 medical centers abroad, which are serving people. He added that IRC is ready to attend the General Assembly meeting and Cooperation Council of the society in Sydney, Australia. He also referred to cooperation between IRC and international federation of the societies in the level of the Middle East and North Africa ( MENA) and Asia and said that IRC had signed an MOU with the federation and also has several joint projects with the International Committee of Red Cross. The 8th Conference of Red Crescent and Red Cross Societies in the region of the Middle East and North Africa is to be held here on Sunday in the presence of officials from more than 40 countries and international bodies./end
