MALAYSIA SADDENED BY LOSS OF LIVES IN PAKISTAN EARTHQUAKE

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian government is deeply
saddened over the loss of so many lives in a major earthquake that hit the Baluchistan province, Pakistan, on Oct 29.

In conveying the message, Foreign Minister Dr Rais Yatim said the Malaysian
government believed that every effort was being undertaken by the relevant
authorities in Pakistan towards alleviating the hardships and difficulties faced
by those affected by the earthquake.

In a statement Tuesday, he also said that the relevant authorities would be
making every effort in ensuring a full and speedy recovery for those who had
suffered injuries from the disaster.

It was reported that more than 350 people were killed, hundreds injured and
an estimated 15,000 left homeless in the 6.4-magnitude earthquake.
