From Khatami and Rafsanjani, one would run for president, politico predicts

TEHRAN,May 1(MNA) – It is predicted that from former president Mohammad Khatami and his predecessor Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani, one would make a comeback bid for the presidency, according to Mohammad Javad Haqshenas, a member of the reformist front. In an interview with the Mehr News Agency published on Tuesday, Haqshenas said that the first priority of the reformist front had been inviting Khatami and endorsing his possible candidacy. If Khatami rules out his candidacy, the reformists will seek to reach a consensus on a single candidate, which would probably be Rafsanjani, he said, adding, “If a consensus is not reached, Mostafa Kavakebian will be the candidate of the reformist front.”
