Azerbaijan University of Languages delegation visits UK

Baku, May 2 (AzerTAc). Rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages, professor Samad Seyidov is visiting the United Kingdom. Accompanied by a large entourage, Seyidov visited the University of Essex where he viewed the Albert Sloman Library. He also met director of International Academy of the University, professor Richard Barnard, graduate Director and pre-masters graduate diploma courses director Nilufer Demirkan-Jones, director of bachelor education department Mike Johns and senior teacher Julian Good to discuss the implementation of a joint “2+2” project. Academic Registrar at the University of Essex Stephen McAuliffe provided an insight into the registration of students and their results, as well as rules for the organization of exams and tests. Pro-vice-chancellor on academic standards, professor Jane Wright said the Essex University had 12,000 students and ranked 9th among the British universities. Wright said the Essex University paid special attention to cooperation with the Azerbaijan University of Languages. Seyidov said the University of Languages was among leaders in the country in terms of the execution of Bologna Process. He highlighted the university`s international relations, including cooperation with British, Norwegian, Italian and French higher educational institutions. Dean of the International Development at the University of Essex Martin Henson said approximately 30 percent of the students at the university are foreigners. He said the University of Essex was interesting in increasing the number of Azerbaijani students. Seyidov also met newly appointed vice-chancellor of the University of Essex, professor Anthony Forster.
