Iran should strengthen foreign relations to boost economy: Iran`s Rohani

TEHRAN,May 7(MNA) – Presidential candidate Hassan Rohani said on Monday that Iran should improve its foreign relations to improve the country’s economic situation. Hassan Rohani, director of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council, told students at the University of Tehran that the country should expand its relations with other countries if it was seeking to sell oil, natural gas, and electricity. Elsewhere in his remarks, he said that if the country took effective measures to develop the production sector, economic problems can easily be solved. Criticizing the economic policies of the administration of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Rohani said that the country had earned high foreign revenues during the past eight years, but the people had only experienced high inflation. Iran’s former nuclear negotiator also said that he would welcome the candidacy of Iran’s Expediency Council Chairman Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and former president Mohammad Khatami in the presidential election which is due in June.
