Iran, Oman FMs discuss Syria

TEHRAN,May 11(MNA) – During a meeting in Tehran on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and his Omani counterpart Yousef bin Alawi bin Abdullah held talks on a range of international and regional issues, including the Syrian crisis. The Iranian foreign minister said that the Syrian crisis could be resolved only through putting an end to the bloodshed, holding national dialogue, preventing foreign intervention in the Arab country, and working out a peaceful Syrian-Syrian solution. Salehi also condemned recent Israeli airstrikes on Syria and said that the attacks revealed the nature of the factors involved in the continuation and intensification of the crisis. Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian official described the Tehran-Muscat political relationship as excellent and said that consultations between the friendly and brotherly countries of Iran and Oman about sensitive regional developments and bilateral ties were highly important and in the interests of the two countries and other regional countries. In addition, Salehi called for the expansion of bilateral relations in transportation and energy sectors. The Omani official also described the continuation of consultations between Iran and Oman as constructive and highlighted the importance of bilateral cooperation.
