Iranian wrestlers claim Takhti Cup

TEHRAN,May 11(MNA) – Iran free-style wrestling team won the 2013 Takhti Cup at Tehran’s 7th of Tir Arena on Friday. The Iranian team won the title with 70 points. Georgia finished in second place with 25 points, Russia came third with nine points, Azerbaijan finished in fourth place with eight and Tajikistan remain rooted to the bottom without a point. Takhti Cup is an annual wrestling event in Iran, held in the memory of the late Iranian wrestler Gholamreza Takhti. Takhti, who died in 1968, is the most famous wrestler in the Iranian history. He claimed the gold medal in Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games and won two silver medals in 1952 Helsinki and 1960 Rome Olympic Games.
