Iran will soon face water crisis: Iranian deputy minister

TEHRAN,May 15(MNA) – Iran will soon face a water crisis, deputy Energy Minister for Water and Wastewater Ali Reza Daemi cautioned on Tuesday. Addressing the second International Drought Initiative (IDI) meeting in Tehran, Daemi also said that Iran has received very low rainfall over the past 10 years and it is predicted that the annual volume of water available per capita would decline to one fourth in the next 20 years. The second IDI meeting opened in Tehran on Tuesday and will run till Thursday. The meeting has brought together experts and highly skilled professionals to debate drought issues and draw up an IDI road map.
