Tehran hosting 7th Regional Commission for Fisheries

TEHRAN,May 15(MNA) - The seventh edition of the Regional Commission for Fisheries (RECOFI) kicked off in Tehran on Tuesday. Representatives from the eight member countries, namely Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Iran have attended the three-day event, according to the RECOFI official website. RECOFI was established in 2001 through an agreement concluded under Article XIV body of the FAO Constitution with the aim of conservation, management and best utilization of living marine resources in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. The sixth edition of the RECOFI was held in 2011 in Kuwait. The Regional Commission for Fisheries is held biennially in one of the eight member countries.
