‘National duty’ prompted me to run for president: Iran`s Rafsanjani

TEHRAN,May 18(MNA) – Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said that he decided to enter the presidential race, which is due next month, to fulfill his “national and religious duties”. Addressing university students and academics in Tehran on Thursday, Rafsanjani, who is also Iran’s Expediency Council chairman, expressed hope that his entry into the election would help heat up a fair competition.
