TEHRAN,May 21(MNA) – The secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said that major powers are using some tools, such as terrorism and the abuse of the concept of democracy, to destabilize the region and cause discord. SNSC Secretary Saeed Jalili made the remarks during a meeting with Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh in Tehran on Monday. He said that regional countries should utilize their potential to foil the major powers’ plot. Elsewhere in his remarks, Jalili described the Tehran-Baku relations as friendly and long-standing and said that the Islamic Republic regarded the independence, progress, and stability of Azerbaijan as those of its own. In addition, he said that the religious and Islamic potential in Azerbaijan provided the best basis to promote the country’s progress and security and underlined the need to utilize this potential to overcome the problems facing the country. Pashazadeh also described the relationship between the two nations as strong, brotherly, and historical and said that Baku would not allow enemies to sow discord between Azerbaijan and its neighbors.
