TEHRAN,June 2(MNA)– The Non-Aligned Movement member states approved a statement in support of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s peaceful nuclear program on Friday.
“In the meeting of ambassadors of the Non-Aligned Movement member states to the International Atomic Energy Agency which was held at the agency’s headquarters on Friday evening, the NAM statement on Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities was approved,” the Iranian ambassador to the UN nuclear agency said on Saturday.
The statement will be read out at the next meeting of the Board of Governors of the IAEA which will begin on Monday, Ambassador Ali Asghar Soltanieh said.
Commenting on the latest report of the UN nuclear watchdog on Iran’s nuclear program which was published on May 22, he said that the report showed that Iran was fully committed to international regulations and that Iran had never compromised on its inalienable rights.
According to Reuters, the IAEA report said that Iran was pressing ahead with installing a more efficient version known as the IR-2m at its main enrichment plant near the central town of Natanz.
In addition, the report said that 509 IR-2m centrifuges and empty centrifuge casings had been installed since February, bringing the total to nearly 700, none of which were yet operating.
And according to AFP, the report shows Iran has so far produced 324 kg of 20 percent enriched uranium, 44 kg more than three months ago, but that 140.8 kg had been diverted to fuel production, up from 111 kg.
