Thailand to join Licensing Expo 2013 in Las Vegas

BANGKOK, June 11 (TNA) - The Department of Intellectual Property, under the Thai Ministry of Commerce, will participate in the Licensing Expo 2013 in the United States from June 18-20 to showcase Thailand's patented masterpieces in their digital content, especially the globally-renowned Thai boxing. Deputy Commerce Minister Nattawut Saikua told journalists on Tuesday that his ministry's Department of Intellectual Property has joined forces with the Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA), the Thai Digital Entertainment Content Federation and the World Boxing Council Muaythai to prepare Thailand's innovative and potential patented masterpieces to be displayed at the Licensing Expo 2013, the world’s largest licensing exhibition and trade show, set to be held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas of the US Nevada State. Nattawut acknowledged that the main Thai boxing, or "Muay Thai”, will be presented at the three-day world fair in its new form related to information technology (IT), namely multimedia games, animation, clothes, devices and souvenirs. According to the deputy commerce minister, traditional Thai boxing shows will also be part of the upcoming world fair, believed to lead to the expansion of Thailand's markets of patented digital products related to the Thai boxing on the world stage. Thailand's animation games and e-learning products are totally worth over 16.5 billion baht currently, but they account for only 0.27 per cent of the total global value of 200 billion US dollars of the products; so, there appear to be more rooms for the Thai products on the world market.
