HYDRA PROPERTIES CEO HONOURED BY MALAYSIA'S TUANKU MIZAN
DUBAI, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- Hydra Properties chief executive officer Dr Sulaiman
Al Fahim has been honoured with a gold medal of excellence by Malaysia's King,
Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, for his tireless efforts in
supporting equestrian activities worldwide.
Dr Al Fahim said he was extremely thrilled by what he described as an
unprecendented honour and recognition accorded by the Malaysian king.
"This recognition is a true reward for our continued efforts to support
sport in all its forms. We at Hydra have a firm belief that it's important to
develop humans before we develop buildings, and with this philosophy, we
continue in our quest to support all human activities in sports, culture and
education," he was quoted in a statement here.
The honour came on the occasion of Hydra Properties' attendance at the
12th FEI World Endurance Championship (FEI WEC) 2008 currently being held at the
Terengganu International Endurance Park (TIEP) in Malaysia's east coast state
of Terengganu.
According to the statement, Hydra Properties, a leading real estate
development company in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), sponsors various horse
racing events in the UAE, Europe, North America and Asia.
The company is involved in landmark projects across the continents,
stretching from Hydra Waves in Mexico to Aqeeq Al Marina in Kuwait. It has
numerous ventures in the UAE, including Hydra Village Abu Dhabi, Hydra Village
Sharjah, Hydra Avenue Towers, Hydra 55, Marina Spirit and Abu Dhabi Golf
Walk.
Commenting on the award, 12th FEI WEC chief operating officer Dr Salleh
Mohd Nor said it was in recognition of Dr Al Fahim's persistent
efforts in contributing to world sports and his support for equestrian, chess
and football, among others, both locally and globally.
"Dr Al Fahim is always keen to support all activities that help to
build and
develop the youth, and here in Malaysia, we share the same vision with him, for
our children and the youth are the true wealth and future of our country," he
said.
Held for first time in Malaysia and the second time in Asia, the FEI WEC
involves endurance horseback riding over a 160km trail which must be completed
within 13 hours and 20 minutes.
Besides Malaysia, the other participating countries are South Africa,
Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia,
Guatemala, Germany, Holland, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, France,
Portugal, Qatar, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland, UAE, United States and
