President-elect Rohani Calls For Enhancing Iran Ties With Turkey, Afghanistan

Tehran, June 26, IRNA – Iranian President-elect Hassan Rohani on tuesday, in separate messages to Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Afghan President Hamid Karzai thanked them for sending congratulatory messages to him over his election win. In his message to his Turkish counterpart, Rohani said that Iran and Turkey share historical and cultural commonalities which should be used to help restore stability and security to the sensitive region (of Middle East) at this juncture. He reiterated that enhanced Tehran-Ankara ties will certainly benefit the entire region and promote world peace. In addition to sending a congratulatory message, Gul congratulated Rohani on his landslide victory in a phone conversation.
