Seven regional bands to perform at Tehran’s Rudaki Hall in July
TEHRAN,June 30(MNA) – Seven Iranian ensembles from seven provinces will be performing their regional music in Tehran’s Rudaki Hall during a weeklong program, which will begin on July 2.
Organized by Artistic Affairs Department of Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, ensembles from North Khorasan, South Khorasan, Azarbaijan, Kermanshah, Lorestan, Mazandaran and Fars will be performing their regional music, executive manager Kamran Hemmatpur said here on Saturday.
“Torqeh”, “Vatan Oghli”, “Hannaneh”, “Kasit”, “60 Salegi”, “Soluk” and “Radha” are the ensembles to perform during the week, he said.
Hemmatpur also added that the program is quite different with the Regional Music Festival and mostly focuses on regional traditions, while the festival centers on maqams.
Maqams or maqamat are sets of musical scales and characteristic melodic elements, or motives, and traditional patterns for their use, forming a system for the melodic and tonal development of performances in Islamic music.
