Thai PM, Cabinet members vow anti-corruption

BANGKOK, July 2 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has led her Cabinet members and heads of government agencies and state enterprises to announce their anti-corruption stance to guarantee good governance and transparency for national development. At the event, organized in Bangkok on Tuesday afternoon after the Cabinet's weekly meeting, Yingluck acknowledged that her government has always emphasized on corruption suppression and proactive strategies for the promotion of morality and ethics; while, parallelly, opening channels to receive corruption complaints and amending laws to accelerate corruption investigations. According to the prime minister, her administration will also introduce internationally-recognized measures to fight against corruption, requiring government agencies to report information on their procurement projects and to treat all contenders fairly. Besides, the Thai premier noted, representatives of concerned parties in the society will be trained to observe procurement projects in the public sector and to report irregularities to ensure transparency. The prime minister said her government will also form a committee to promote transparency in procurement projects in the public sector, while information technology (IT) will be applied to record relevant information and monitor procurement processes and the implementation of anti-corruption campaigns. The Thai prime minister vowed to take legal actions against any corrupt party, regardless of their influences. (TNA)
