Defending Champion Japan End Malaysia's Campaign In Kazan

KAZAN (Russia), July 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's (Harimau Muda A) campaign in the World University Games (Universiade) came to an end after suffering a 0-4 loss to defending champion Japan in the quarterfinals at the Trudovye Rezervy Stadium, here, Friday. The win saw Japan march into the semifinals with goals from Jin Izumisawa (5th min), Teruhito Nakagawa (6th min), Kazuki Nagasawa (80th min) and Shuhei Akasaki (83rd min). Japan have won the title five times in the history of the Universiade after having won in 1995, 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2011. With the loss, the Harimau Muda A squad would play either Ireland or France in the classification matches for 5th to 8th positions. --BERNAMA
